Mills-Tui
Rotorua Limited
Mills-Tui
has operated from the same site in Rotorua, New Zealand,
for more than thirty years, during which time we have specialised
in designing and manufacturing a full range of heavy transport
truck and trailer units, fire fighting and other related
emergency vehicles, Hi Tech specialty vehicles, Defence
vehicles and fittings and modifying and refurbishing existing
equipment.
During
our history we have become recognized internationally, as
being in the forefront of innovation, design and customer
focus in the field of customized vehicles, emergency vehicle
manufacture and project management.
New Heavy
Transport
Over
the years the base business of Mills-Tui has been that of
heavy transport truck and trailer units, and still is to
this day. We specialise in manufacturing
Lowrider Bulk Trailer, Dropsiders, Stock Decks, Transporters, Steel Bath Tubs, and Tippulaters
Airport
Fire Fighting Vehicles
1984
saw the first Airport Fire appliances built by Mills-Tui
for the Royal New Zealand Air force. This initial development
saw Mills-Tui producing its own cab/chassis designs, with
crew cab safety standards conforming to the ECE29 cab occupancy
safety requirements. As a result Mills-Tui was able to secure
contracts for such vehicles which have included the Auckland
International Airport in 1990, Christchurch International
Airport in 1992, Rarotonga International Airport and Taejon
City Fire Department of South Korea in 1993, the Solomon
Islands in 1996, eleven Major Foam vehicles for Air services
Australia in 1999, Wellington International Airport in 2000,
a second unit for Rarotonga and a fifth unit for Auckland
International Airport in 2001.
Smaller
airport appliances on commercial chassis have been delivered
to Tonga, Niue, Nauru, the Solomon Islands and Indonesia,
with a further eight units being supplied to domestic airports
in New Zealand during this period.
Rural
Fire Appliances
Throughout
its history, Mills-Tui Ltd has provided fire appliances
for the rural and forestry community. These include both
private and Government run forests, timber companies and
small rural communities. The current Light Rural Appliance,
complete with Compressed Air Foam, (CAFs), capability, is
an excellent example of this area of expertise.
Specialist
Transport and Products
Over
the period of the company’s history we have built
up an expertise for the design, manufacture and supply of
all forms of specialist transport requirements. These include
such items as heavy-duty generator trailers and general-purpose
truck trays for the NZ Army right through to bulk liquid
and heavy haulage ‘B’ trains, aluminium boats
and most recently, Mobile Operating Theatres. Our association
with other members of the group bring the expertise and
capabilities of rotational moulded plastics, marine products,
alloy boats and launches, helicopter crop spraying, log
and animal recovery and aerial fire fighting.
In
addition to these vehicles, we also specialize in the manufacture
of ambulances, from van fit outs to full body design and
body refurbishment.
Defence
As
mentioned in the forgoing paragraphs, Mills-Tui have been
in the forefront of work for the New Zealand Defence Department
with its production of Airport Fire Fighting Vehicles for
the RNZAF and Army trailers, truck decks and fittings, refuellers
and lubrication vehicles. On going work includes the provision
of advice on refurbishment and replacement of the Airport
Fire Fighting Vehicles.
We
are strong advocates of New Zealand industrial involvement
in major Defence procurement contracts and look forward
to every opportunity of cost effectively contributing in
tender
submissions.
Corporate
Identity
Throughout
its history Mills-Tui has seen a number of changes to its
make up, but at each phase of this history, growth has been
the key to the longevity of the company. In December 1990,
the then owners of Mills-Tui Trailers Limited (Chubb NZ
Ltd), decided to sell the company. In April 1991, Fuelquip
Services Ltd purchased the assets of Mills-Tui Trailers
Ltd and incorporated Mills-Tui Limited. In August 2002,
Mills-Tui Alloy was established, but at each time of change
most of the staff from the previous Mills-Tui were retained
so that their institutional knowledge and capability formed
the nucleus of the new company’s direction.
